Fluid change question

I have an 03 Pathfinder LE with 56K. Bought it with 46K last year and I don't know if it ever had the trans, diffs or coolant changed.

Nissan has a special: $199 to change the front and rear diff and transfercase fluid and $99 to flush and replace the coolant and do an oil change.

My question is, should I have all fluids changed now with 56K or wait longer. I have another 4 month on the powertrain warranty and was thinking if they found a problem with the trans or diffs it would be covered under the warranty.

I could do some of this work myself but is it really worth it? I figure for under $500 I could have them change all the fluids and have everything documented if I have problems down the road.

Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Well unless the previous changes were documented, they still have an out for non-maintenance failures. Have them print the maintenance history and you will know if things are up to date. Then you will know where you stand. I'm not sure what the schedule is for your year, but the fluids should be due soon anyway, so it's probably a good idea.

That is true. It's the new privacy act BS. Anyway, I called around to a couple of dealers where I thought it had been previously serviced until I found one that had serviced it. At first they said they couldn't do it but then told me they would have to edit out the previous owners info and would send me a copy.
When I finally got a copy it still had the previous owners name on it.

So if you talk to someone who is willing to do some work, then can get you the records.

So did you find out if the fluids were already changed recently?

Most of the work done was oil changes. It did have a 30K service done but it doesn't list what was replaced. Coolant and Transmission fluid should be done at 30K. The service was $296 for labor and 68 for parts and 3.5 hours of labor.

It sounds like the service did the tranny , so you can wait till 60k and then do it. You will be due for another oil change by then anyway.
