Vibration at 50 mph till 65 mph, then disappears

Hey forum,
1995 Pathy, 4X4..I've got a vibration from 50 MPH, until around 65 MPH, then it disappears. I've checked almost everything, but noticed a chunk took out of one of my rear drums..Could this throw the rear tires out of balance..It's a piece about an inch, by inch..It's kinda in the seat of my pants too...I've checked all rear bushing and chassis parts as well..just noticed the drum though. Also, can warped front rotors cause a vibration?..Peace..Thanks

Well it looks like your culprit is the rear drum. It spins with the wheel and will cause a balancing issue. Warped rotors don't throw off the balance. They will cause a big vibration when you hit the brakes though.

Nissan would machine a cut-out to balance the drums at the factory, so if the edge of the so-called "chunk" is smooth, it is probably not a broken drum. However, if the edge is jagged and definately a section has broken off, you should replace the drum. Also, you never mentioned if you had the tires balanced. You may also want to check the rear shaft U-joints.

Also when replacing rotors/drums, it's best to do the whole axle (both). Also look in to on vehicle tire balancing.

Sorry, forgot to mention 4 new tires, balanced and rotated every 5,000-7,000 miles at Wal-Mart. I purchased the lifetime balance and rotate, but it's done this for quiet some time..I'm gonna change the drums..and rotors too, as soon as funds are available..Checked to U-Joints..They seem fine, no slack..Peace.

you need to have them balanced on a hunter GSP machine (hub-centric). Check if your Wal Mart has that machine. Hunter GSP9700 Wheel Vibration Control System

hmmmph. the GSP is the answer to all vibration problems, I say!

LOL, I overlooked that part. I'm so used to the complaints on 01's and up.
