I wouldn't spend too much time trying to tie the timing of the MIL light to a specific cause. Most of the codes will only trigger the MIL after the second detection, meaning a second trip in which self-diagnosis is performed. With the exception of mis-fire codes and fail-safe items, the initial detection of the error was most likely quite a bit earlier. Getting the specific error codes read will help.

Hopefully you've sorted out the problem. I'm repling only because I started down this same path over a yr ago. There is a TSB covering a degraded ground issue on some nissan rigs. This faulty ground makes the ECM report, among other things, that front O2 sensors are failing. For about $15 and less than an hour of your time, you might save yourself the cost of replacing the sensors and get a better running truck.

Heres a link to what "seems" to have cured my problem.
