Could be the speed sensor on the transmission or the plastic gear that spins it. That's a pretty common problem for the speedo. On the tach, usually replacement fixes that. Not too many people have reported finding solutions for a wonky tach.

You fail to mention what year....Mid-90's...especially 95...Nissans had problems with the threads in the head unit cracking where the bolts passed though the printer circuit and into the head unit. The fix was to replace the head unit. That doesn't rule out a bad speed sensor, circuit or plastic pinion gear; the problem needs to be diagnosed. I can tell you that a lot of speed sensors were replaced in 95 Pathfinders that didn't fix the problem! Erratic tachometer issues are usually a result of a bad tachometer; fix is to replace the tach.
