3.5 motor & dual exhaust

has anyone done this conversion and if so are they happy with the results?

There's really no reason to build a dual where a single already does the job fine. For one thing, there's only room on one side for the exhaust, you'll have to route two pipes in the same space where only one currently fits. Or are you talking about only doing a dual-out muffler and two tailpipes? There's really no benefit.

idk about the 3.5, but the 3.3's exhaust is sooo small im sure giving it some larger pipes would help it breathe a little better, i just have no idea how these will sound with aftermarket mufflers, V6 SUV's aren't my cup of tea on the exhaust note...unless...maybe you could score some 350Z mufflers...

88: i think im misunderstanding you, but why would you say theres no benefit when you have a 2.5" exhaust?

i am more interested in people that have this set up and if they like it.

88 sometimes having a nice exhaust tone and having duals sticking out the back is the reason for wanting it. that could be the benefit................

I had some links to some pictures of PF owners with duals on their 3.5. They must have deleted their pictures, as they don't show. You can get your local muffler shop to fab up some duals, but like 88 stated you'll have to route the two pipes under the passenger side. If you just want looks and sound, you could go to a dual in/ out muffler. Then run the two outlet tail pipes under your bumper and stick on some chrome tips. Should get the look and sound you want.

Here are some muffler samples. I had my local muffler guy install model 17740 on mine with a larger outlet. You could go with something like model 17725.

What I mean is there's no real power benefit from having a dual-out muffler with two tailpipes. You'd be adding more weight that way. Larger size pipe from the cat back is a good idea, though.
