reviving the "beast"

hey everyone...i have a somewhat stupid question that i really couldn't find the exact answer to...but...i have a 92 Pathfinder with a blown motor (my dad somehow shot a rod through the oil pan, sigh)...i have a motor available from a junkyard with only about 70k on it, it's from a 95 pathy...i wanna put that motor into my truck, but i was just curious if anyone knew if there were any differences in sensors and locations (since it's a 3 year difference between builds)...or does anyone think it would be a better idea to swap over the top end (minus heads). I really want my truck back for the winter but i'm not sure the best way to go about it, since i've never swapped a motor before. If anyone has any advice about it that'd be great, any help is appreciated. Thanks to everyone in advance!

My suggestion would be to pull the old engine out and sit them side by side and compare. If there are differances that aren't easily corrected, swap the intakes.

Most junk yards have an application cross reference list. Did you check that? Although not 100% reliable, it can get you in the ballpark.

You probably need the ECU to go with the engine. Are they both inline 4's? I would think there shouldn't be much of a problem. Although engine mounts might be different. I'm sure someone on here has done that type of swap. Maybe 88 will chime in with his vast knowledge.

Should be good to go. I can't think of any extra engine sensors or things they added between 92 and 95. Just swap all your accessories from the old one onto the new one and fire it up!
