Nobody, as far as I know. The ECU isn't reprogrammable by the average owner.

You usually only see ECM flash programers, like Superchips, for domestic trucks, as there isn't as much of a market for Nissans and Nissan doesn't tend to be very open to releasing their data to the aftermarket...or anyone else, for that matter.

Maybe this is a dumb comment/question, but wouldn't you think that Nissan would program the ECU for best fuel efficiency right out of the factory?

If you're looking to tune it for specific operating modes such as towing a heavy trailer, then I guess I could see that. But for normal driving, I wouldn't anticipate that there's much room for improvement. And at $200-400 for the typical superchip or ECU programmer, you'd have to get a significant MPG improvement to recoup the investment.

Well the Edge tuner I bought for my Duramax Chevy on the mileage setting gained from 14-16 on highway to an impressive 20-22 so I was hoping to be able to do the same.
No they wouldn't from the factory because the oil companies are in their pockets and they tune vehicles somewhat rich for warranty purposes.

Yup....flash programers like Superchip's work wonders on deisels; it's amazing how much power you can get out of them by simply re-mapping the fuel program. I had a customer have me get one for his Ford Superduty and in the tow setting, he says the gas mileage has improved 30%, the trans shifts smoother and the power is night and day. He got his $400 back in fuel in just two trips between VA and TX hauling a 4-horse trailer.
