Can you pull an engine and the auto transmission off of a 93 Pathfinder and install in a 91 pathfinder without removing the transmission and engine apart??
So basically in one shot, remove the engine and transmission...
I have seen on older chevys, where the engine was removed from the truck and the tranny was still connected to the engine.
I have heard that you can, but never tried it personally. If it's a 4X4 you'll have to move the front diff. out of the way. ...something you would have to do if you were to just remove the engine on an MT model, but not necessary if you were doing an engine only removal on an AT model. You also have to lower or remove the torsion bar set-up (remember to mark the spline positions for reassembly). 4X2 might not be so bad, but with the added weight of the transfer case might make the job a bit awkward.
Yes, I believe so......If you were removing the engine alone, there is just enough room to disengage the engine and pull the engine straight up, out of the engine compartment. If you take a good look, you'll see there is almost no room between the front diff and the oil pan. Even if you were to get the assy. at a pretty steep angle, I still would think it'd be tough to clear the front diff. as there is not a whole lot of clearance between the engine/trans assy. and the floorpan tunnel.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to take out the engine, trans and t-case as one unit. Usually people just crack the trans apart from the engine and go from there.

That would be the way I would go! That trans and transfer case add a lot of weight to that engine!
I actually just did an engine swap from a 91 to a 95 pathfinder last weekend and I will tell you now that you will never get them out together without removing the front diff! The best way truthfully is to drop the trans and t-case together totally off the engine and as another person said pull the engine straight up. Doing so will save you alot of time and wasted energy. I tried almosy everything to get the engines out without removing the trans and in the end ended up having to do so anyway to save from bending the input shaft and crank which would not come apart.
