fan is loud on my 01

Hello everbody,

The fan runs very loud and the car is weak when I run the AC on my 2001 pathfinder. The car only has 41,000 miles on it. I got the raditor flush last year. Does anyone have any suggestion to what i can do.

has the fan been getting louder over time? my pathy fan has been quite loud (at least, compared to other vehicles i've owned, though it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with it to me) since i first got it. i haven't noticed her running weak when the a/c is on though (i do feel the drag in my expy though). perhaps there is something wrong with your compressor?

I'm guessing your talking about the engine fan, check the fan clutch to see if it is locked up. to do this when the engine is cold and off spin the fan there should be slight resistance. if it doesnt spin it is gone bad and locked up. during the summer time depending on where you are at the fan clutch can be locked up almost constantly while driving. when the fan clutch locks up/engages it will rob some hp, even give the feel of a tranny slipping or overrevving.

Dave,

I did what you said and spin the fan and it did move a little. Does it suppose to spin full circle? Also is this something you have experience on your pathy also.

Another issue I have besides the fan is I feel the car is not so responsive. I would have gas the car to get it the speed up. Sometimes, I would press the gas verey lightly and it will speed up fine and very smooth. Why is this happen. Do I need to flush the Tranny?

It's probably the fan clutch. I've replaced mine 3 times and the 3rd time I got one from the junkyard (oem) and it has lasted longer than the 2 aftermarket combined.

No, It was quite after that. It was quite with the two aftermarket fans for
about 6 months and then the clutch inside the fan started going bad. Is your
fan easy to turn firstthing in the morning or after it has been sitting for
several hours. When I mean easy, you can push it with a finger almost as if
it is free spinning.
