2005 Pathfinder Audio question

Hey everyone, i'm new here. i recently bought a 05 black pathfinder. and i am looking to replace the head unit with a kenwood ddx7019

can anyone give me steps on to how to remove the factory head unit?

also, does anyone know what is the closest percent in order to match the two front windows to the rear factory TINT?

and also, has anyone tried to change the interior lightning color removing the factory lights and replacing them with LED's??? any help would be really appreciated...thanks!

I don't have the answers for questions 1 and 3 but I do have the answer for Q2. The 20% tint should match the rear factory tint. I do have an 06 and I had the front windows tinted with 20% tint. See picture below.....click on the picture to enlarge.

Does this kenwood ddx7019 fit the opening perfectly? If it does let me know and might do the same thing. thanks

Where will you get the 2 side brackets? Are you going to fabricate the brackets yourself or buy it and from where. Let me know. Thanks.

Looks like the 2 brackets comes with the unit if you buy it from CRUTCHFIELD + wiring and installation guide. That unit you bought is $999 from CRUTCHFIELD. However, the DDX6019 is only $799.

i got it for 659 plus shipping. 705 all together. I went to Circuit City, and they can sell me the brakets and wiring harness for 20 bucks so thats what i'm gonna do. Crutchfield is way too expensive...

I'm guessing you're using the FM adapter to connect the new head to your stock ant.

I had the same problem when I put a replacement deck in. If you hardwire the connector you'll get a much better signal. Break out your wire cutters and your soldering iron.

I forget who was asking about the install. In case nobody answered it's pretty easy.

Move your shifter as you'll have to remove that bottom bezel. Pry the bezel around the cup holders off, and pop the little dish on top of your dash off. There's a screw under there you'll need to get to. Before you remove the large center console be very careful not to scratch anything or damage the wiring for your VDC and FWD buttons. Remove it slightly they unplug them. After that is out of the way you can remove the screws that are holding the center unit in place. That part comes right off. From there you'll see your crappy stock stereo. There are 4 screws holding it in place. You'll want to keep your Factory mounts as they will be used to hold your new deck in place. If you get a single DIN this won't be the case and you'll need a mounting kit. From there it's just wiring and all the fun little stuff. Put it all back on the same way you took it off. It should go very quickly.

Good luck.

I too replaced my stcok radio with the Pioneer Avic3 nav system. Fourtunatly I was able to reuse the same factory brackets (will post pictures later). I was also able to keep the steering controls by adding a PAC AWI interface.

yeah its a cd/dvd player. yes i ran the cords to the glove box, no drilling needed since if you look at the glove box there is a small cut out that you can run cords through, thats where i keep my ipod and USB port, which is how i uploaded the nissan background.

I bought the Kenwoods exelon DDX8019 because it has all the same great features as the pioneers and eclipse head units at a much cheaper price, and it also has a reverse tilt on the screen, which is perfect for pathfinders since the radio sits somewhat tilted up , and with a regular screen it tends to have too much of a glare.

Looks good-I may be headed that way. Why do you have a seperate screen for your nav? On the kenwood site it looks like the nav can go on the exelon unit.
