I'm in the process of replacing my timing belt and tensioner on my Pathfinder. The Haynes manual says to put a .0197 in. feeler gauge between the belt and the tensioner, hold pressure and tighten the retaining nut. Then it says to remove the feeler gauge and check the tension of the belt halfway between the cam gears and should have a 1/2 inch of deflection when applying 22lbs of force. I did the feeler gauge thing but I'm really kinda of guessing on the deflection thing. It seems to have about a 1/2 inch of deflection but I don't know how much force I'm really pushing with my hand. It seems to be right but I don't want it to be too lose or tight and cause problems down the road. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help is apprecitated. Sorry for such a long post!
