Hey guys I just bought a used 2004 platnium edition pathfinder, and i was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get sound without opening the car to enable the aux inputs. Thanks.
i used a monster tape adapter-- it only had a foot long cord and worked and sounded great-- you can get them on ebay for 10 bucks or get a cheaper one at wal mart.
The best is using MP3 - FM modulator. Here it is how it works. You get this gadget fixed thru the cigarette lighter stuff. You MP3 player is connected through this gadget. The adapter takes the signal from the wireless FM modulator that's built into many of the plug and play receivers, and sends it to your car's radio via its antenna jack, so the signal from the XM receiver can be heard over an unused FM frequency. the MP3 player songs are sync with the new allotted radio frequency , there u go you songs are playing the background. When you dont want to list, just remove from the cigarette pod and can be kept in the glove compartment. Buttons on the front allow you to skip forward back and pause the music. There is also an audio input for any other portable device you want plug in. These gadgets also come with a Memory stick slot wherein you can have 1-4 GB memory stick stored with MP3 songs. cheers buddy

i've heard fm modulation is worse than a tape player, though i've never used (basically i've stayed away cuz i've heard bad things). i've got a tape to play my ipod music in the pathfinder and an aux hookup (best way) in my expedition. while i can tell the difference between the two, it's honestly not that much.
Those FM modulators are CRAP. Worst purchase I ever made. Sounds like you're listening to music in a tin can and it intermittently goes from clear to fuzzy. Bleh.

i tried and FM modulator. It sounded terrible. I purchased an $8 philip tape deck insert and my sound is 100x better, but still not as nice as i'd like it to be.
I've searched high and low for a solution to my unit which is a 6 disk in dash changer...no such luck.
I also tried the FM Modulator. It was crap. In my other car, i had the dealer installed 10 disc cd player which also incorporated the fm modulator. It was also crap, sound quality was muffled and not loud. Now in my pathy, I am using the Belkin tape adapter and love it.
First I bought Delkin cassette tape adapter for my MP3 player, and sound quality sucked. Lately I bought the cheapest FM transmitter and it works great.
