92 Timing belt installed wrong?? but running-hesitation on acceleration

I have a 1992 Pathfinder that idles fine but when it accelerates it hesitates. The exhaust smells very rich.

When using a timing gun the timing marks are not in the correct place. (To the left)

Could this be a timing belt issue or possibly an O2 sensor?

Thanks

Was the timing belt just replaced? They don't usually just go out of time for no reason.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know as I purchased it used. I am starting to think it may be the 02 sensor as I replaced the clutch (DIY) and it could have got damaged in the process. The wierd thing is the timing marks are not in the correct spot which led me to beleive that the timing belt was replaced and installed incorrectly.

You can check your ECU error codes yourself if you want to see if there are any codes stored. The procedure is pinned at the top of the Truck/SUV forum.
