my power antenna needs help

98 pathfinder antenna will not go down with out help,once i push down on it it goes down by itself any ideas as to what is wrong?

It's dirty and needs a little lube. Take a rag, spray it with WD40 (or similar), and wipe the mast with it (be liberal). Then have someone stay in the car and with the key in the ACC position (first click), have that person turn the power on and off while you hold the WD40 saturated rag around the mast. Let the antenna glide through your hand as it goes up and down. This will lubricate the sections so it will return properly. It will take a number of times to clean it off and make it return on it's own.

Boy, all this talk of lube and masts is making me crazy!

my 1997´s antenna wont go up, if i pull it manually then it will go down by itself, do you think "lubricating" it will help ? or what would it take to get her running properly ?

Same thing as above. If it doesn't get better, the gear may be stripped a little, preventing the mast from going up. You can buy a replacement mast and gear kit. They list for around $30, but maybe you can find one cheaper.

The OE number is 28215-9B000, and if fits a few models of Nissans, so a decent dealership parts room should have one in stock.
