Have we checked fluid levels?

Fluid is supposed to be pink and clear. If it's dark red and burnt smelling, you probably have some burned clutches inside or worse.

Start with the look-see first. Do not run it anymore until the fluid level is checked, but something tells me it's too late for that.

I'm sorry to say this, but it sounds like the transmission is on it's last legs. They tend to lose reverse and start to make bad noises when they're about to die. Be prepared, this is going to cost between $1000 and $2200. Or you could find a junkyard transmission and do it yourself if you can.

i took my car to the nearby shop for the replacement of my Nissan transmission, i don't have enough time to do it myself so i let my mechanic do the replacement..i ordered my transmission from ebay so i got it from a very reasonable price..
