tranny problems

The tranny in my 92 was replaced but is still giving me problems. When it heats up, it just stops working, but when it cools down, it works fine. I'm thinking there is a problem with the cooler, which i've heard is junk. my question is, how do i go about bypassing the stock cooler and hooking up an after market one. thanks

They replaced the trans and didn't install an external cooler? Damn, that shop needs some lessons in Nissan fixin'.

Buy the largest plate-type cooler you can find, open the box and read the instruction sheet. I use two coolers off 93-98 V6 Ford Exploders from a junkyard, they cost me $5 and took all of a couple of hours to install.

ok, thanks. does this sound like a problem that could be fixed with a cooler?

Nope. Sorry. I think the trans shop has some work to do.

140k miles.... yeah i do.. but it still drives decent.

Only reason its gone so long without problems is because we never drive the thing... driven only 2 - 4 a week at most. Short trips to the store and stuff...
but it still needs to be fixed, transmissions a bit jerky at times...

Probably needs a new one ( which we will do.. and probably lift it)

heh just my .02 cents pz!
