Any EVAP experts? Code P0446

Check engine light has been on in my 97 Pathfinder. Code checker shows code P0446
evap vent. I did some research and pulled the vent and did some tests per the service manual and everything seems ok except I found I was only getting 1.5-10V's at the harness to the vent module depending on where I was grounding the dvm . The module clicks on and off with direct battery voltage but doesn't do anything when attached the harness so it looks like ecm is not sending enough voltage to the vent module or there's a problem with the harness wiring. Anyone familiar with this issue? I hate to try and trace down and fix an electrical problem. TIA

You're lucky you were able to get the valve off the canister, usually the nuts inside the canister just spin freely and you have to replace both parts. When you say the valve does nothing when attached to the harness, that's probably normal since the valve only closes occassionally to test for leaks, it's normally open all the time. That valve commonly sticks causing those EVAP errors. I'd try to clean it out good and reinstall and see if that helps with the code.

Thanks for the response guys. Interesting thing happened. I brought it into the dealer to have the right exhaust manifold replaced because it was cracked (under warranty) and the light has been out since. Not sure why because it doesn't really have anything to do with the evap canister but it has been out for a couple of days. I'll leave it alone unless it comes back on. Thanks again.
