I am having a look-see at a 2006 Pathfinder. It is 4x4 and is a 'S' trim level, splash guards, body side molding, micro-filter and floor/cargo mats.

The price is $25,518 including $1,000 rebate.

Is this a good deal?

Doesn't have skid plates, not sure I really need them as my off roading would mostly be limited to forest service dirt roads when on a fishing trip. Do you have/need them?

We have a minivan we would be keeping that seats 7. One of the things we like is that the Pathfinder seats 7 too. I also tow a pop-up camper and a 10 ft utility trailer. It looks like the Pathfinder would easily handle both.

The rattle! The one we test drove has rattle! My Dad has a 2005 Frontier and it has/had a rattle sound coming from the same location. Apparently there is a service bulleting or recall for this and the dealer is fixing his for free. It has something to do with the engine that's causing the rattle. Anyone know this? Lots of plastic on the Pathfinder - are you having rattles?

Lastly, what is the difference between the 2006 and 2007 models? The 2006 has a $1,000 rebate, but the 2007's have a $500 rebate. I am wondering if the depreciation of the '06 vs the '07 would cost me more than the $500 difference over the long term?

All in all, how do you like your Pathfinder?
