Pathy 1991 vs Maxima

Howdy Board,
First of all, short introduction
Im Jacob, live in Sweden and have been lurking around your forums for a while.
I recently bought a -91 Pathy, the V6, 3.0l and drowe it with satisfaction for a couple of weeks. Then one day this last weekend the engine said "pop" and died. Well, towed it back home and started to look around, although I had my guess what it could be.
Eventually it turned out to be just what I expected, the timingbelt
Well, I got the car cheap and it had some milage to it so I should have changed the belt right away, well well

I looked around some junkyards and eventually found a Maxima V6 engine and I was thinking I could take the cylinder heads from that one and put it on my Pathy (I don't have any means to change the entire engine)
I posted a similar thread on a Swedish board and got one disturbing answer, that the Cams might be different? Is this the case? And if so, is it possible to use the heads with the cams from the pathy?

Appreciate any feedback from you guys since you seem to know a great deal more about this cars then the Swedish messageboards

/ Baz

As far as I know, the cams were exactly the same for the Pathfinder VG30E, the Maxima VG30E and the 300ZX VG30E. A head swap would work fine.

Agreed, the block and heads are the same, but the similarity stops about there. It should be fine for what you need it for.

Oh, another quicky for you guys. Shall I use the fuelrail from the pathy or the maxima engine?

Didn't the pistons take a beating also? Because that is an interference engine (I believe).
