How does this work?

How does a plate type transmission cooler work?..The one i seen was a Hayden High Performance and it had an inlet and and outlet, but upon further investigation it seemed as if there was nothing in the middle of the thing. It looked like a radiator, but not like a tube and fin type cooler..?.Can you mount one vertically? Or are those kind made to be horizontally mounted?Peace.

they are meant to be mounted vertically like the radiator, and usually in front of the radiator and condenser. better cooling that way. you could mount it horizontally but it would be rather in effective for its purpose.

Mounting it horizontally works just as well. Mine are both horizontal.

Fluid flows through the fins, they're just pretty flat. Works just like a radiator but the fins are made thicker cause the fluid is pressurized.
