Question Overspinning and ABS

Hi guys!
I have a question about terrible experience that I had this morning. The overnight rain just stopped a few hours ago but the pavement was still wet. I was driving my 01 Pathfinder 3.5 LE on highway. When I was taking an exit ramp at about 55 mph and I saw that upfront cars are waiting on a red signal. I applied brakes and immediately lost control of the car - I end up making 180 degree turn with dead engine. Fortunately, I didn’t hit any other car.
So, I understand that I was driving too fast and brake to abrupt considering wet road but why ABS did not work to prevent me from spinning?
Thx, bek

I question how good the ABS works in these cars. Did you feel the ABS kick in?
Also, remember that you are in a heavy SUV, if you slam on the brakes and you are in a turn, your back-end is going to come around, which sound like what happened to you.

If you were in a sedan you might have had a little more control and not spun out but if you hit the brakes hard in an SUV, you never know what’s going to happen..

Sounds like the ABS didn't come on at all, if the tires locked up enough to make you skid. Wierdness...

When your engine dies, so does your ABS. Also pumping ABS brakes defeats them.
