Idle Control

I was just wondering what controls the choke/idle on the 3.0 Pathy's? Is it possible mine could be sticking or have build-up around it causing it to idle at higher RPM's longer than it should during warm-ups. Or what could be the cause of this? Also, What should be the idle at warm-up after a cold soak at lets say 30 degrees? I'm getting around 1500 for several minutes then gradually dropping to 1000, then once warm around 700 RPM. The reason for my concern is the kick down on the engine and tranny on cold mornings when I engage into drive from park on a cold morning? Should the kick down be a concern?.Peace?

Sounds like yours is operating normally. It should idle high when cold to warm it up. There is an idle air controller on the intake that helps regulate idle RPM's.
