Does anyone know how to change the rear plates lights? Maybe I should say, have any of you ever tried to change your license plate light? If not, you will be amazed as to how that is installled. It is pratically impossible to replace that light the way it was installed. The silver panel cover blocks the way to unscrew it from the rear door. Im guessing you will have to remove the interior panel of the rear door so you can remove that silver panel. Afterwhich, you can gain access to unscrewing the light mounts. Am I right?
Yes I have swapped my license plate lights out for PIAA bulbs. I had to access the bulbs from the inside panel. once you have the rear panel off it is easy to gain access to. Maybe I will post some pictures with the aftermarket bulbs. It makes a huge difference with the bright white bulbs.

Pictures would surely help. I too am trying to change the license plate lights with LEDs birght white. If you could give me some tip on how to remove the rear panel - I dont want to rip anything off. Thanks!

To remove the back door panel, here are some instructions from a service manual. Seems a little vague, but better than nothing. Hope this'll help you.
1. Open back door glass.
2. Disconnect the gas spring L & R hand from back door (through window garnish)
3. Open the back door, release the clips and remove back door window garnish.
4. Remove the screw and back door handle.
5. Release the clips and remove back door finisher assembly.
Of course, installation in the reverse order of removal.
Rharrack - thanks for the tip! I finally installed them. BDW, I ddint know PIAA has bulbs for that - I got mine from a Japanese car parts store in one of those Japanese groceries. The store's name is Autofreak, caters to their market of course, but, fortunately, there's one near us, so I stumbled into it. $30+ fro the two LED. THere are other options, mine was 2 LEDs, I had a choice of 4 LEDs but more expensive. I amy opt to change the interior lights too and the back up light (?). Maybe, I'll do it slowly, can be expensive.

NP smartswap....Good luck. I will post pictures once I get my pathy back from the dealer. I did change the interior bulbs with surface mount LED bulbs from Ebay. I will post pictures of that too.....
I replaced all my interiors lights with LED's. including the license plate ones.
I love them. its not like regular bulbs that is yellowish. LED's has a cool look to them. people who don;t know that it is LED's would say it is blue in color.

Thats fine, no worries really. Dont get me wrong but to worry if I got ripped off with $30 and still afford an LE full equipped doesnt go hand in hand, dont you agree?
Well, they do say a fool and his money are soon parted...
