I have a 1991 vg30e 4wd manual Transmission pathy. My gears are screwed. I need a new tranny.
I have located one out of a 1986 vg30 4wd truck. After doing a little research the only thing I got info on is that the sensors and switches my have to be swapped from the old transmission to the new one. Is this the only difference? I do not want any surprises. Here is more detail on the transmission I found
Nissan part number 32000-33G15
If anyone has any info please let me know before I make a deal or a big mistake.
That should be a direct swap, but be aware that you need to add an extra quart of GL-4 gear oil on fill-up because they built the case with the fill plug too low. That's the main reason Nissan 5-speeds lose gears, not enough lube.

This is a brand new old stock transmission, I was hoping for it to be new enough to have the fill plug in the correct position. I still could not pass up the price of $1160.00 w/ new transfer case
The corrected transmission cases were released in 96, so if it's not a 96 or newer case it's the old design. Oh, and it should be 1.5 quarts extra, not 1.

I installed my new transmission and there was really only 1 difference and that had to do with the new transfer case (It came with the transmission) the Shifter lever that attaches to the shift rod going into the transfer case was different from the one on my pathfinder. This is probably due to the fact that this was for a truck. It was a pita to get the lever off the shift rod. the pin would not budge. I finally managed to get it off an switch levers. Now all that is left to do is adjust my torsion bars and I will be back on the road.
Time to study the manual. Any tips anybody have on adjusting them ..
Google it....it's been covered a hundred times on many different forums.
