my 97 pathfinder with automatic transmission will slip out of gear and rev up when driving but when i let off it catches again and the problem goes away when it warms up a little. Is this usual? has anyone else had this problem? should i be concerned?

any slipping of a transmission would be a huge concern to me. it usually just gets worse.

you might want to drop the pan and change the fluid and filter (and check for metal pieces and shavings).

Definitely keep up on the service for changing the fluid. Check and see if there's a factory technical service bulletin for the TCU or anything on the transmission for slippage.
