99 pathfinder Blower resistor /switch

Heya,

I understand it's a common problem and I searched the forums without any luck so here it goes;

99 pathfinder
Heater blower was only functioning on high speed for about a year(resistor).

Now I get absolutely nothing(motor doesn't turn at all).

I know the motor is still good(i tested it) and i cant seem to find the resistor and or switch location.

Thanks in advance signed
COLD GUY! ps i live in canada and its cold

Thanks,
I found the resistor, it was located behind the glove box. I had to remove the plastic panel behind the glove box to get at it.

But since my blower stopped working entirely I figure my next move is to remove the "switch". Now where the hell do i find that?

Just to keep everyone up to date ( i know ur all dying from the suspense).

I followed the procedure in the maintenance manual and tested the switch for continuity and everything seems ok.

I connected the blower to 12v power supply and it tested good.

as for the resistor the manual says it has 4 pins mine onlly has three so I'm not sure how to procede in testing it.

btw my CC system is manual and the Pathfinder is a '99.

any pointers will be much appreciated.

Replace the resistor first, then troubleshoot the switch. 99% of the time it's just the resistor.

Thanks for the input guys.

I just realized I have an Automatic Climate Control system, It looks the same as the manual system which led me to believe it was manual.

In the service manual the picture for the Auto system has an led display, the manual had knobs, I have knobs...I am a knob! doh! Unfortunately the diagnostic procedere from the service manual doesn't cover my particular "hybrid" system.

I went to buy the resistor for about 50$ at the dealer, I noticed it wasnt the right part and the auto system uses a fan control amp big difference this part is over 200$. So now I'mn back at square one. I didnt wanna blow 200$ if i cant be sure, again any ideas would be much appreciated.

thanks, signed Knob

This is a common problem, the blower amp goes out on a lot of people. If the switch works, the blower works, then all you have left to troubleshoot is the wiring itself or the amp. Which do you think it is? Search for an aftermarket amp or one on Ebay. Also, price-shop dealerships. Lots of dealerships have lower prices than your local ones if you can get a quote, most ship to you, no problem.
