01' QX4 4WD 60K Service $895 - Did I get ripped off?

Hi guys,

Just bought a used 01' QX4 4WD with 60K miles. Prior owner had NOT done the 60K service. The local Infiniti dealer told me at 60K a full 4WD "service" is required and then every 20K miles or 24 months thereafter. He described about a dozen things they do... front / rear limited diff, etc.

I went ahead and authorized the service since I'm ignorant of 4WD maintenance and didn't want to second guess the infiniti dealer. I also plan to keep this Qx4 well into 150K+ miles, so I prefer to err on the side of conservative when it comes to my vehicle maintenance.

My question though is whether $895 is a "rip off" and if so, could I have had the work done cheaper at a Nissan Dealership and/or a certified mechanic that is familar with Pathy's?

Thanks! Too late now to save money, but want to be prepared for the next service interval.

hmm.. not sure if the Nissan & Infinity dealers charge differently. By rights its's the same truck, and therefore the same job...

Next time maybe get a list of what needs to be done (you can also check the nissan website - they have a list of the recommended maintence at certain mileage intervals) and shop around... you might save money. Also, have a looksie at the list -- always helps the pocket book if you can do some of the service yourself... and leave the jobs youre not comfortable with for the dealership.

that seems a little steep.............. but could just be me... i mean, lets see full tranny flush, front and rear diffs drain and fill, transaxle drain and fill, grease the propeller shafts, grease the hubs....... if they did everything listed for a 60,000 mile nissan service Nissan Maintenance Schedule for 60,000 miles or 48 months than i see how 895$ is a good deal considering they replace just about everything....

It's all about what was done & price of parts & how many book hours it takes & price per hour.

I.E.

Was it necessary to use the $50 Infiniti wipers or could you have replace them with $10 autozone wipers save yourself $40. Heck I don't know, I'm sure Bill Gates doesn't use $10 autozone wiper blade.
