Power door lock issuse

Hello everyone, new to the site & Have a ?
Just got my 93 path xe. all is well. about a week later I had problems with the power door locks.
sometimes the vehicle will not lock from the key dongle or the interior switch.
most the time it will. & sometimes if the door gets slammed or encouraged close, it will lock its self.
good thing my spare saved me a few times, but that kind of worry just sucks hanging over me.
I kind of think it might be a short somewhere, but locating it is a hassle. I think it might be a
short on the locking mechanism ground bolt in the doors. the doors get slammed pretty hard
sometimes & a bolt is bound to come lose. does any1 else have any ideas ?

thank you

The linkages inside the door may need lube. They tend to stick in the "almost locked" position instead of sliding all the way to "unlocked" due to lack of lubrication. Cold weather aggravates the problem most of the time.

I had a very similar problem with our '92 on the driver's side. Ours would actually fight back when trying to unlock it - as if the solenoid was acting against the rotation of the key. It would also lock when the door was slammed, like you are experiencing.

So, not having a nice garage to work in at the time, I went for the "quick fix" option. The door lock solenoid inside the door has two wiring harnesses clipped into it. I played with these a bit looking for a short, and found the one that seemed to be effecting the door unlocking system. So, I disconnected it and got rid of that issue. Everything works the same, except that locking the door from the driver's side (with either the key or pushing down the knob on the door) won't lock the remaining doors like it used to. The actual electronic locking button on the drivers door console still works. Slightly inconvenient, but better than locking the keys in the vehicle...

Since then, I have installed a remote starter that also unlocks the doors, so it's less of an issue. But now the passenger side is starting to act up as well. So I may need to tear into the doors and actually find the problem - rather than just dis-abling stuff.

At least I now finally have my 750 sq. ft. garage/shop I built this summer to work in - - SWEET!!!
