Tach whacked '95 XE

Hi...

My tach recently started doing wierd thinigs... showing 8,000 rpm, or slowly creeping up while I'm driving a constant speed, showing idle when it should be 2,900 rpm, etc.

I couldn't find much in the online service manual on the tech circuitry.

So my questions are:

- Has anyone seen this?

- Where/what is the sending unit?

- If it is the tach itself, do I have to replace the whole instrument cluster, or can I just replace the tach?

TIA,
Tim

Most of the time it's simply a wacky tachometer. A lot of people have experienced that exact same problem, the only thing you can do is replace it. You can do it yourself fairly easily.
