(2002) Seatbelt won't retract...

Has anyone else had this problem...When I exit the vehicle my driver side seat belt just hangs there limp, it doesn't retract like it should. It actually retracts but's it slow and weak, so most times it just lies there in my seat.
It seems like there is something wrong with the spring. Is there a fix for this? like if I tried to get into the spring mechanism?

call the dealer or Nissan customer service, I believe seatbelts are covered for about 5-6 yrs under warranty due to safety.

seat belt sluggish?

I had the same problem. I "fixed" it by scubbing the seat belts with 409 cleaner and warm water with a brush, then running a clean dry towel up and down them to dry them off.
I couldn't believe the how much dirt came out of the weave on those straps. Now they work great, and look and smell better too! Try this first, it's free...!

I also have an 02 that had the same problem and I took it to the dealer and they corrected it for no charge. I'm not sure what they did though.

You are talking about the seat belt? Right?

Anyhow, I would replace the whole seat belt, or take it to the dealer for repairs/inspection. You don't want what you described above, when you slam in to something.

There is a bulliten on this......

Service Bulletins Nissan Cars

I ordered the kit for mine. The clear "tape" that you are supposed to use is a PITA to apply. I couldnt even get it off the backing! Wasted 8 bucks on the kit....maybe it was my impatience or the fact that the adhesive was old and wouldnt come off the backing....I wound up trashing the kit
