Warranty Question

I bought my 01 Pathfinder used from a private seller and I was wondering, is the warranty transferrable? I read that there is a 8year/80,000 mile warranty on emissions parts and my car is showing code P0420 (Catalyst Efficiency below threshold) and was curious to know if the dealer would fix the problem.

Thanks

I'm sure they would. Wouldn't hurt to call the dealer and ask.

I almost bought a used 06 Pathfinder and the remaining warranty would be for me from the time the original person(s) bought it new.

The warranty follows the vehicle.

emissions warranty has to follow vehicle unless vehicle was scrapped or totalled

Thanks for the response : ) Do i have to get the service done at the place where the original owner bought the vehicle or can i get it done at a local dealership? The dealership is closed right now so I'm unable to call them until tomorrow.

No, any Nissan dealership will service the vehicle. Have it fixed in Canada if you like.

Just talked to the service manager at my local Nissan dealer and he says that the catalytic converter is covered under warranty for 8years/80,000 miles, but the code i'm showing doesnt automatically mean that it's my converter at fault. I made an appointment to have it diagnosed ($97.00) and if it is infact my converter at fault, they will fix it for free and waive the diagnosis charge : ) Wish me luck (hoping its the converter so I can save some money on the repairs)

Thanks for all the help!

Just got my car back from the Nissan dealership and they fixed the problem for free! It turns out that my catalytic converter was okay, they had to reflash the ECU and that's covered under warranty.
