Bull bar and crumped zone

What is the size of 05 pathy tow hitch? can i use universal 2 inches?

Now Im planning to buy Westin bull bar with skid plate and a hitch step bar and in one forum they are debating that these bull bar and step bar will affect your safety because it will affect the Front and rear crumple zones during collision. In page 9-20 of pathy manual "the hitch should not be attached to or affect the operation of the impact absorbing bumper" does it mean nissan is not allowing us to use bull bar etc for safety reason? anyone? before i place my order. t.y

You mentioned in part of your quote "should not be" doesn't mean "must not be", so buy it, put it on and enjoy the new look.

Just remember the vehicle was designed to " crumple on impact , this is absorbed energy to protect the occupants.

Also consider putting " bush " bars on the front can alter the impact bumpers reaction. This is where the sensors for the SRS ( air bags ) are located and may affect the timing or whether or not they deploy in a collision to the front.

What Nissan ( or any manufacturer ) is doing is warning you and in fact a waiver for them from liability if you get injured after installing any accessories like those that will affect the safety design of the vehicle. The choice is still your's

Unfortunately almost all the "bull bars" on the market are nothing more than decoration. They may protect your truck from a shopping cart but will offer no real protection. There are only a handfull of real "bull bars" on the market; Two big manufacturers are ARB and TJM. ARB ARB 4x4 Accessories offers bars in Austrailia on the Navara and Pathy but not in the US as yet.... TJM TJM - Serious 4WD Equipment > Home does not yet offer any bars for the '05 Pathy yet...

ARB bullbars are now designed to be airbag compliant with crumple zones built into the bar mounts...

The Bull bar on my toyota weighs almost 100lbs.. and attaches to threaded holse in 18 places on the frame......

And here is the ARB on an Austrailian Pathy...
