2005 suspension noises

owned my pathy for a year now, i have a couple of lingering noises that the dealer cannot seem to find.
1) when making turns and weight transfers from one side to another (low speed turns into parking lots, on side roads etc...) i get a knocking or clunking from the front end.

2) when transitioning from forward to reverse or vise versa, i get a pop type noise from the front end after moving a short distance. does this sound like cv joints or what?

3) also have a jingle or rattle from somewhere underneath the vehicle, when going over washboard type surfaces at low speed...sounds like a light-weight metal on metal contact. something sounds very loose. i looked into the ac lines from the other post "unbearable noise" and that did not correct my problem...

Does anyone have any input into any of these 3 noises? anyone have similar experience or solutions?

the dealer has not been helpful AT ALL in tracking down these noises.

Thanks

TSB# NTB06056

IF YOU CONFIRM There is pop/clunk noise from the front of the vehicle: When the vehicle moves from a stop. Or When making turns in 4WD mode. ACTION Adjust the front differential so there is 13 mm clearance between the differential housing andfront crossmember. See this bulletin for further detail.

If it only happens once after you start your truck the info below is the answer....

"The computer has a built-in diagnostic feature that tests the system each time you start the engine and move the vehicle at a low speed in forward or reverse. When the self-test occurs, you may hear a "clunk" noise and/or feel a pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal and is not an indication of any malfunction."

IF YOU CONFIRM A "squeak" noise coming from inside the fuel tank when driving over bumps with the fuel tank ½ full or less, NOTE: If this incident should occur, the customer may report the squeak noise: Is coming from inside the vehicle. Happensafter driving for 30 minutes. Is coming from under the vehicle, or from the left rear area of the vehicle. ACTIONS Replace the fuel pump and seal (packing). See this bulletin for further detail.

I have an appointment to get this TSB done on the 7th..........

Cali-
thanks for the response, i have printed out the issue with the differential hitting the crossmember, and looked at it this last weekend, it could be the cause but it seems like there is plenty of clearance in there and i saw no signs of contact between the two,

the "self-test" i am aware of, this is more of a pop or so that sounds like a rotating part worn out or so.

what are your symptoms for the fuel pump dillema? mine sounds like metal chains "jingling" or a loose washer rattling...i am not ruling anything out, but it sure does not sound like a squeek...

you seem to have a lot of information on such topics so i appreciate your help, i have done a lot of research myself, and with limited resources i have inspected these issues myself...

Go under your truck and pound on the tank with your palm just once... you will hear a pronounced squeak... mine does it on 1/2 tank or greater..... I have an LE with no skid plate so it was easier.....
I have since ordered one BTW.. I can't believe they leave a plastic tank unprotected....

The pop noise could be this TSB

has anyone at the dealer gone for a ride WITH you so they can hear the noise? when I worked a dealership I did this plenty of times if the tech couldnt hear or figure out what the customer was talking about, you could also call Nissan Customer Service and file a complaint with them to help the process, hopefully you kept all you receipts when you took the vehicle in with the complaint and give that info to NCS too.

I havent been able to go for a ride with them as i am always at work when the truck goes in, i know that would be the best scenario, but it's been hard to set up. i KNOW i could replicate the noises (certain streets)

i have all receipts filed, however, at least two of the occasions they did not give me any documentation, i was not happy about this. (they pick the vehicle up at my office and upon return i asked "is there any documentation" they say "we will mail it to you" and i never received any.

also it's been to two different dealers for this.

Thanks

talk with the service manager about the problem and see if the serv. dept. is open on the wknd, or arrange a day and time for the manager to go for a ride with you, even if its closing time, if they want your business they will work with you. get Nissan cust. serv. involved, no company wants a loose cannon out in the world. they will work with you to get it solved.

I had the light metal rattle while going over bumps at slow speed. problem was the emergency brake pad housing unit and the cable. parts replaced and e-brake tightened, and the pathy is as quiet as the day i got it
