97 Pathy (Built 8/96) Evap Vent Control Valve Issue?

Service Light On. Trouble Codes P0440 and P0446. Pending Codes P0446. Have narrowed this down to Evap Vent Control Valve issue, I am pretty sure. I have read a lot of posts about this and it seems that the best way to fix it is either clean it and if that doesn't work replace it. I have seen many people talking about less than $50 prices for this item, but can only find $75+. I have seen various part numbers. Some with an o-ring, some without. What I am looking for is where I can get it the cheapest, and what is the correct part number if I have to buy one? All help would be appreciated.

The answer depends on whether you can get your vent control valve off the canister or not. The nuts that hold the valve on the canister are inside and will probably just spin when you try to loosen them. If you have to replace both, then its better to use the newer parts since they are cheaper.

Your current parts are:

Valve 14935-54U06
Canister 14950-1S717

Newer parts (only use these if you replace both valve and canister):

Valve 14935-54U04
Canister 14950-1S718
