93 PATHFINDER WHITE SMOKE COMIN OUT OF THE HOOD

[b]Hi Guys,
I was drivin the other day and all of a sudden white smoke started comin out from

under the hood. Also the temperature gauge was all the way on H. It was higher than usual

the last few days, so i had replaced the coolant. I opened the hood and saw white smoke

comin out from the rubber tube which takes the coolant to the engine. There was a small cut

in the tube which i had taped before. Should i just change the tube and that will take care of

that, or is somethin else wrong with it. please help........

You might be low on coolant, run the car with the heater on hot for a while, once the thermostat opens and closes a few times you can top it off and it should be ok.

DON"T OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN IT"S HOT!
FILL IT FROM THE OVERFLOW RESEVOIR!

Cool, I added the coolant in the radiator. The heater started to work.......now there is a coolant leak somewhere. It looks like the leak is comin from just above the top pulley........seems like a bad water pump..........All the coolant i added drained out in 2-3 hours.......

I think I got it figured, I had to take of the pulley. however i couldnt take off the shroud as the bolts were rusted.....n i didnt have power tools. But i m pretty sure the leak is comin from the area where the lower radiator hose meets water pump..........n its not the hose. so i m guessin its the water pump...i m thinkin of replacin the water pump.........any suggestions.......

Replace the water pump and the timing belt and the tensioner and the thermostat. It's all gotta come off to get the WP off anyway.

Bout $200 for the pump, $40 timing belt, don't know the cost of the tensioner and the thermostat is a little pricey, bout $45.

Prices I guessed are in CAD.

The WP is 109, t-belt is 22, thermostat is about 10. Cam and crank seals are 10 each or so. Check prices at rockauto.com for some deals if you're going to buy your own.
