I think I read here or on another board where it is a circut that controls them, way to hard for the average person to change.

This thread (form a few months back) has some info about independent fog light usage:
http://www.nissanforums.com/pathfind...ght-relay.html

Additionally, I stumbled upon this today:
KP Technologies

Note the product in development - Independent Fog Light Controller. Hopefully it will work in the Pathfinder!

Actually, it's quite easy to reqire the fog lights independently of headlight position...as long as you know a little about wiring to begin with.

Though your vehicle won't pass a State safety inspection if you have them in your area...they wire them that way on purpose.

As I mentioned in the thread linked a couple replys up, the switch connects to the BCM and the IPDM provides relayed power to the fogs. Both could be bypassed, but you would need to access the switch before the BCM, bypass the BCM and IPDM, then provide your own relayed power tolight the fogs. At that point you'd be better off adding another set of (better) lights on your own switched harness.

If you know an easier way to do this in a 2005+ Pathfinder, please enlighten us!

It will pass here - My state limits the number of forward facing white lights to 5, and the only real criteria for allowing or disallowing lights is the beam length. They don't distinguish between headlights/fogs/driving lights.
