I took out the VSS, and I measured the resistance, circuit was open between 1 & 2connectors. So ... VSS was broken. I changed it and now the speedometer works again!!!!
Thanks for the assistance golfer.
you probably have this fixed by now, but try searching the forum before asking a question... there are many posts about dead speedo's. that may be why no one answered initially...
That's good
hopefully you got my post before searching for speedo, sorry about that. Wife is ready any day now delivery baby so kind of in and out.
Thanks Golfer. If it wasn't for your post regarding the resistance in the rev sensor I would have bought a new one when all I ended up needing was some contact cleaner in the connector!
hope you can help, ive been reading through these threads and am having the same problem, driving the other day in my 98 pathfinder my speedo died check engine light came on and whenever i start the vehicle the o/d light flashes for 10 seconds i need to know if you think its the VSS and if it is located on the transfer case or the top of the transmission? Any reply would be much Appreciated.
sounds like similar symptoms. my speedo died, check engine came on, and my cruise stopped working. it is the sensor on the side of the transfer case near where the drive shaft exits, not the one on the top. check the links to the other posts above. it has pictures. http://www.nissanforums.com/pathfind...995+pathfinder
Well i did it but it wasnt easy my pathfinder is from out east so everything has a little rust on it couldnt get the first harness clasp closest to the VSS off so i had to disconnect and drag the electrical end out through the clasp then disconnect the sensor but other then that it went well. thanks for all the posts guys.
