I have a 2000 Pathfinder LE and one of the things that bugs me is that in order to open the glass on the rear hatch I need to take the key out of the ignition and turn the lock to open the glass.

I was wondering if there is a way for me to wire up a relay to the hatch release in the back and put a switch up front to open the glass.

I don't even know if this is possible but I would appreciate any and all answers.

If anyone has done this, or knows how to, help would be appreciated.

I've wondered that myself. My '92 had the swith/release up front. I used it ALL the time, and it was great because it even worked without the key in the ignition. Now, my '97 requires the glass to be opened with the key at the liftgate. I hate it!

Years ago, I had an '88 Chev Celebrity wagon. No electric release. I bought an actuator from Chevy for like, $38 and it bolted right up. I had an old doorbell button and put that at the dash. Worked great.
