Unhappy Pathfinder transmision Woes

Hello eh,

I have a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder V-6, 4x4, with 230,000 kms. The problem occurred as I left a yield, I stated to move, then as I went to pressed the gas and gain speed, I noticed I was not accelerating. No smoke, overheating, leaks, nothing, none of the dramatics (slipping, leaks, burnt smelling fluid, etc.)

I coasted over to the side and checked the fluid, it looked and smelled good, then looked underneath no leaks, Tried all gears but would not engage in any gear, including reverse, so I shut her down and had to get it towed to my house.

What could this be? Something electrical or mechanical? I have read this could be the result of a line pressure solenoid valve, true? How much $$$ to have this replaced? Or a tranny oil pump? I bet that will hurt the pocket book to replace. I have tried putting it in 4WD with no movement either? Fluid level was fine with no signs of degradation.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Cheers

RF

Might just be the torque converter/pump. If your lucky they won't have to pull the whole tranny apart. Did you hear anything like a pop or bang when it happenned and did it ever have the slipping feeing like it wouldn't pull hard before or did it just stop going all in one shot and never move again?

Could be, but it could also be the trans saying bye bye. Get ready for a spendy fix...

Damn Pathfinder Trannies!

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago.
No bad tranny symptoms whatsoever, and then all of a sudden no response from RND12.
It turned out to be the torque converter. They said that the spline was stripped.
I paid $850.00 to have it replaced.
Make sure that you go to a reputable place or else you could end up needing a whole new tranny if they don't install correctly. Currently, I'm driving a Nissan Maxima because my Pathy is tranny-less!

Bad news. Took it to a tranny shop today, basicly DOA. Tranny was toasted, $3,600 (CAN) to replace. I think I have to say RIP to my trusty ol' Pathfinder. Any one looking for a cheep deal on a "slightly" used Pathfinder=
