I have a 2002 pathfinder LE with 50000 miles on it. What's happening is that when the car is cold, it runs great. Good pickup and engine is smooth. As soon as it get warm, the engine feels and sounds like it can't keep up. The engine sounds much louder, especually going up a hill or taking off from a light.

The car had a similar problem last year, but it was remedied by replacing one of the front exhaust pipes (looks like a catalitic conv. but it's). That solved that problem. So this year when this problem came back, I went and purchased a NISSAN exhaust patch kit and patched the other pipe witch had a small leak in it. Now both pipes should be okay, but sluggishness and noisy engine still come back after it warms up. I recently had the coolant flushed and oil changed also.

I'm out of ideas. By the way, when I open the hood, I hear a fairly loud clicking noise that seems to be coming from the top of the engine.

sounds like a fan clutch symptom, seems sluggish, loud roar of the engine and tranny feels like it is slipping. are you getting a CEL (check engine light) on the dash? take notice when the vehicle is almost warmed up at the shift points on the tach compared to when it acts up.

the clicking noise is that when it acts up or all the time?
