01 Pathfinder Transmission Pan Question

Hi all!
I have an 01 Pathfinder, and was just doing the fluid change out on it. I changed out the transmission fluid, and reinstalled the pan (after a good cleaning of the old gasket) with a new rubber gasket. Upon idle, no drips, but after driving it starts to drip all over like crazy. A few questions hopefully someone can answer. The gasket I removed didn't look like cork or rubber, more of like a foam almost. Does Nissan use a different type of material for their gaskets? For installation, should I have used a gasket adhesive between the pan and gasket?
Also, how about the torque specs for this engine for the tranny pan?

Thanks everyone!

IMO always change the gasket after pulling off. they do have gaskets out now that have rings around the holes to help protect against crushing/ pinching the gasket. not sure if nissan has this for the trannys

Gasket type shouldn't really matter if you torque the bolts correctly. I've never used sealant on any trans pan and I used to work at Jiffy Lube as a pit tech. Never had one come back leaking. Did you crank those suckers in real tight or leave 'em loose? They should be in the realm of 12-17 ft-lbs or so IIRC. That and they need to be retorqued after running it for a few days.

The 96-2000 pan bolts called for only 61-78in/lbs, I'm betting yours is about the same. I learned the hard way on mine not to torque above that.
