Timing Belt / Chain at 100k

2000 PF XE - 3.3

I did a search on this forum and i see most posts point to replacing the timing belt / chain at 105k. First which does this pf have belt or chain?

I've been noticing some minor whining coming from the pathfinder's engine. Does a timing belt whine as does a timing chain?

Also, how dificult is it to change the belt? Instructions would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

i know the 01 and up have a chain which doesn't need replacing. i think you have a belt that needs replacing at 105,000.

3.3 liter engine needs timing belt replacement. it has no chain. you need to replace it with all other belts and bearings every 100k miles. service manual says so.

Belt - 105k interval. Changing it isn't that hard, just time consuming. Get a copy of the FSM if you can, but the Haynes manual has pretty much the same steps. Here's pictures from my change:

Does the timing have to be reset again once you change the belt? Doesn't look to difficult, very long process i beleive..
