i bought my 95 pathfinder used last christmas time. i'm not sure if the parking brake worked then, but i just recently decided to look at it and see if i could fix it. i tried tightening the adjuster but the car still rolls when the parking brake is engaged. i was wondering if anyone knew what the next step in fixing this would be. thanks.
Does it have rear disc brakes or drums? Simple answer is to remove the rotor or drum and adjust the e-brake adjuster inside. I'd grease all the pivot points while you're in there as well.

thanks. hopefully sometime today i'll be able to get out there and work on it.
i had it in the shop maybe 2-3 months ago for a leaking brake hose, and to replace the brake pads. so i'm thinking when they replace the pads, and i think a rotor too, they may have not tightened or even connected the e-brake cable back.
thanks for the help though.
i took it to a brake a shop because i don't have the time, or experince to try to do something like this myself, although i wish i could.
anyway the guy told me that my brake shoes were running thin and were realy dirty. he told me i could either spend ~$189 on new shoes, or they could just clean them and adjust them so they would atleast work.
I went with the quick fix, and had them cleaned and adjusted.
so i get it back around noon, and park it on my hill, put it in nuetral, pull the e-brake up, and my car still rolls.
so i'm not really sure what they did, but i was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions.
i've thought about taking it back and telling them i paid them $30 for nothing, and they should have atleast checked to see if it worked before i took it back home.
True. Once again, do you have discs or drums? The disc e-brake pads are separate from the actual rear brake pads, unlike drum rear brakes that utilize the same pads for both purposes. BTW, $189 on a pair of brake shoes is completely outlandish, they cost about $20 a pair at the auto parts store.
