I want to tow an S10 blazer, auto tranny, could i install cooler?
Do you guys think if I installed a tranny cooler on my 92 4x4 auto pathfinder, that I could pull a little chevy s10 blazer? I know it would probably be slow, but I might need to do it, and don't want to hurt my tranny. The curb weight of the blazer is about 3000lbs, and I would want to use a tow dolly, so that wouldn't add much weight.
Check the owner's manual to be sure but I think you can tow up to 5000lbs, though 4500lbs is probably more realistic. You should be fine towing but I would still consider getting a tranny cooler depending on how far you will be towing it.

ok so I forgot that I had an original name on this site already, so I am going to keep posting with this one from now on...
I would be towing the truck about 2300 miles, I haven't bought it yet, but it's a 1992 with an auto tranny and 4wd, with 250,000 miles on it.
I have yet to look at it, but I hear the interior is very nice, with a nice radio. I am thinking that maybe I should have never bought the s10, and just stuck with Nissan in the first place. The motor in the pathfinder looks really nice at spec from wikipedia.
How do these things do on gas mileage, (without towing and on highway)?
The only thing I kind of don't like is that it's and auto, unless of course it has a tranny overdrive torque converter lockup... is that standard? how would I be able to tell from inspection?
Install an external cooler on your Pathfinder ANYWAY. The #1 reason Nissan autos die is because of the tranny cooler clogging up and overheating the transmission. The stock cooler is JUNK. Bypass the stock cooler totally.
The lockup TC is stock on all autos from 90-up. Earlier 87-88 Pathfinders had an optional 3-speed auto that they did away with.
Tow weight limit is 3500 lbs. The owner's manual says "If the trailer is over 1000 lbs, it MUST be equipped with trailer brakes". Though I see people tow stuff all the time without trailer brakes. Just be careful, the brakes are basically just enough for the Pathfinder itself, much less the Pathfinder AND a trailer.
Gas mileage stock from the factory is 16 city/18 highway. If you get better than that, be thankful...I get around 10 or less with 33" tires and 6+" of lift.

'88 Pathfinder: 6" of lift, 33x13.50 Swamper LTB's, Rancho 9000's, L&P Stage 3 steering system, K&N, Pacesetter headers and 2.5" exhaust, Lock-Right locker, 110A alty and electric fan swap, dual batteries, 700W+ worth of PIAAs, etc.
I tried to go to the DamagedReality.com web site and ended up with a blank screen. Is that intended or is the re-direct pointing to a null site? Thanks... littlefish
That used to be my forum. It was hacked by some asshole at c0rrupt.com and it is now extinct. I haven't updated my signature, that's all.

So, if my gear select lever is getting hot while I drive, should I be worried?
Nah, just replace the rubber boot screwed to the floor that has ripped open.
