?'s about a 91 I just bought.

Hello all,

I just purchased a 1991 Pathfinder 4x4 w/ an automatic transmission. I don't know much about the truck. I was visually inspecting it and I have a few questions which I hope you can help me with. First of all, my tranny has trouble shifting from 1st to second. I have to release the gas a bit so it can shift. Also, when I am stopped, it's pretty hard to turn the steering wheel. I have included a few pictures of things I have questions about. This first pic was taken from the passenger side. Is this the lever to check the motor oil or the tranny oil? I have two and can't tell the difference.

What is this one?(taken from driver's side)

What exactly is this piece called and what is the purpose?. It appears as if a switch or something of that nature broke. I believe this is the tranny.

the driver side is the oil
the passenger side is the transmission - if you can't tell the difference in fluid I recommend you have your tranny serviced soon, that could be your problem.

also, you should know that the transmission will hold the RPMs higher until the truck is up to operating tempurature. Once temp is reached the shifts should be normal. Think of it like a choke to help with cold starts.
- is this the case for you? or does it shift like that all the time? do you have a check engine light on?

I will check into the sensor you've shown.

It shifts like that all the time, only the first gear. I've never had an automatic car, especially not an automatic truck.. How can I get it serviced and how much is it more or less? What color should the tranny oil be? I have a few more issues which I forgot to mention:

My ABS light is on...

I have a touring/sport button near the E brake and I dont know what it is for...

I have some sort of power button on the right side dash, behind my steering wheel, next to the rear wiper switch and I dont know what it is for either...
