Most came with a drain plug on the tranny pan. You can change about 60% of the fluid that way, at least.

i finally found the drain plug for my 96 Pathy manual tranny. thank you much for posting such very helpful information. I was able to loosen up both the filler plug and the drain plug; now I'm ready to do some dirty work (well, almost ready). I haven't purchase the gear oil, but I will this weekend. Upon reading the service manual, it mentions that I should use API GL4, I went to Kragen and only found API GL5 Valvoline. I don;t want to take any chance using the wrong oil, I take good care of my car and I'd rather spend a little bit more on routine maintenance than paying a mechanic lots of $$$ due to a faulty tranny. Should a buy only Nissan gear oil or I'd be safe using other brands. Also, would anyone recommend changing the transfer case oil and the differential gear oil. I had put in 180K on this truck , still runs fine but I just thought maybe I change all the fluids since I'm planning on spending the entire weekend just to take good care of my baby. Oh yeah, I vacuum it every weekend, and my wife feels a little bit jealous about how I treat my truck.
Use ONLY GL-4 gear oil in a Nissan manual transmission. GL-5 will eat up the synchroes and kill it.
