05 tire pressure monitoring system

Hey everyone.

I just got a new set of rims for my pathfinder. They are the stock rims, but chrome dipped. I went to have them mounted, and balanced, but the guy at my rim shop shop said the pressure monitoring device can not be re used. I have to go to Nissan, and buy 4 new ones, and I was better off letting Nissan mount, and balance also. Unfortunately Nissan does not have an open appointment for 2 weeks, and I need to get the old rims back, as it was an exchange program. Can anyone confirm if this is true, and 4 new devices need to be purchased. Thanks.
