98 Path Lacks Power and Fuel Econ.

Hi,

I have a '98 Pathfinder and I am seriously disappointed by the power and fuel economy. It has about 125,000 miles on it, and has new Dunlop Radial tires. I know that this type of vehicle isn't a "race car". Going up hills and passing people really sucks. I have practically slam on the gas all the way to get any kind of result I want.

Turning on the "Overdrive" helps a little but when going up hills, but not that much. I have looked at Project Pathfinder, and there are some good recommendations there.

What kind of aftermarkets parts would you recommend for an upgrade? New intake? New Exhaust? Will a new suspension system help?

You can view my fuel econ. here

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Derek

it is V6 3300cc 12 valves engine with 168 hp and 260NM torque. i am suffering from same feelings. it is good on flat roads but when it comes to climbing, it is weak. i will upgrade my exhaust system sometime. i suspect that catalytic convertor is out of usage and it is clogged. so it degrades the performance of engine. also automatic trasmission is old type without locking torque converter, so it is also degrad,ng the performance on higher revs.
