Ricky Ticky Tick

Hello forum, I have a slight issue with my 1995 Nissan Pathfinder XE 4x4, Auto...I'm assuming i have the notoreous valve lifter tick...It seems to be getting progressively worse. Especially during the colder days/months. It's now doing it constently, it was only during start ups...I was wondering how and what i need to do to solve this problem.?..Will it damage my engine. Can someone please point me or inform me to what exactly makes this noise?.Peace..All help Appreciated.

Probably the exhaust manifold leak, typical of most Nissans. Had the leak on my 94 Pathfinder after I had it about 6 years. Ran it another 6 years and 261K miles, not a single problem, just a bit noisy.

Does it stop when the motor gets warmed up? Mine would stop after it got hot, but later on, it was there all the time. I've heard it can cause damage, but my service tech told me it shouldn't bother anything and I left it alone. Man I miss that truck. . .

Sounds like it could be that...You're not the only person thats told me that, but my tick is deffinetley coming from under the left side valve cover. It sounds just like a metal on metal contact with sort of a patternized ticking.lol..Thanx for the reply though...

P.S...Anyone on here ever replace the hydraulic lifters on the VG30? Is this the only fix to my tick? Also, should i replace all of them?..How many are there?..Peace
