Bought an 03 LE from a dealer last year and returned it about two months later because of a number of issues, one being a loud rattle from the exaust (45K miles). The dealer replaced both Cat Conv and the problem was solved at no cost to me (Invoice was for $900).Anyway the Pathy had other issues (Valve problems) so it went back. I bought another 03 LE and after a few months (Same milage on this one) the same rattle from the exaust of the previous LE was present on this one. Has anyone had issues with their exaust/cat ?

I had to have my Y pipe replaced shortly after I got my 03 with about 30k on it.
No other problems and at 48k+ right now.

I have an 05 Pathfinder, is it a tinny sound when you go over bumps?

I am having the same rattle problems with the cats as you. Which ones did you get replaced? The ones next to the manifold or the ones under hte floor?

I have an 02 pathy that started to have the exhaust rattle a month ago (100K). It happened mostly in the 1500-2000 RPM range and happened whether or not the vehicle was in gear. I took it to a mechanic who removed a 12 inch section of the heat shield on the exhaust and the noise disappeared. He also used high pressure air to blow out the remainder of the heat shield because stones get caught in it and make noise. Cost was $13.50.

PF 2002. Same rattle from Exhaust. My mechanic welded the broken hinge and it is fixed.
